Nigeria Secures Strategic UN Role as Jimoh Ibrahim Takes Committee Chairmanship

The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim on his election as Chairman of the United Nations Budget and Administration Committee, describing the achievement as a reflection of the country’s growing influence and active participation in global affairs.
In a statement issued by the MFA Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, on Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, said the election underscores the confidence reposed in Nigeria by the international community to contribute meaningfully to the effective management and administration of the United Nations.
She noted that the appointment is a recognition of Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and constructive engagement in global governance.
The minister stated that the Federal Government welcomes the development and remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at improving the efficiency, transparency, accountability, and effectiveness of the United Nations system.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu expressed confidence that Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim would leverage his vast experience and distinguished record of service to successfully discharge the responsibilities of the office.
She also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working closely with member states and the United Nations in advancing peace, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
