Nigeria Mourns the Loss of Namibia’s Founding President, Sam Nujoma

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed sadness over the passing of His Excellency, Dr. Sam Nujoma, the founding President of Namibia and a champion of African liberation and unity.

A press release signed by he Act Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa reads “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Namibia, the Nujoma family, and the entire Southern African region.

“Dr. Nujoma’s remarkable leadership guided Namibia to independence from apartheid South Africa in 1990, and his 15-year presidency laid the foundation for a nation built on democracy, reconciliation, and development. His unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and self-determination inspired generations of Africans to fight against oppression and injustice.

“Nigeria shares in the grief of our Namibian brothers and sisters and remembers Dr. Nujoma as a true friend and steadfast ally. His legacy will forever remain a source of inspiration for the continent.

“In this time of mourning, Nigeria stands in solidarity with the people of Namibia and reaffirms our commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship and partnership between our two natiions.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace”, he concluded.
