Nigeria Commences Infrastructural Upgrade Of 50 Selected Secondary Schools Across the Country

The Executive Secretary, National Senior Secondary Education Commission, (NSSEC), Dr. Iyela Ajayi, says the Federal Government of Nigeria has commence the upgrade of 50 selected Senior Secondary Schools across the country.

Dr. Ajayi, stated this in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital, during a courtesy call on the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr John Mamman.

According to a statement made available to journalists by the Head Public Relations and Protocol, NSSEC, Fatima Ahmed Bappare, the Executive secretary revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has placed high priority in the development of the education sector as evident in the budget allocation to the sector in the 2024 appropriation Act.

According to him, “Upgrade of the 50 selected senior secondary schools across the nation, which was captured in the 2024 budget, is a clear testament of this administration’s commitment to the development of the sub-sector in the country.”

Ajayi further called for cooperation between Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and the consultant that will be on site for a smooth take off during the upgrade.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, Mal. Mohammed Sani Bala who represented the state Commissioner of Education, expressed appreciation for selecting the state amongst the pullout states as he promised to give the required support for the successful implementation of the facility upgrade.

He also assured NSSEC that the Nasarawa State House of Assembly will look into the composition of Nasarawa State Senior Secondary Education Board.

The Principal, Government College, Nasarawa, Mal. Gambo Sulieman, on his part expressed confidence that the upgrades would be a success.

He further listed other areas in the college that requires urgent intervention, such as the school perimeter fencing, E-library, the conventional library, multi-purpose hall, students’ hostels, classrooms and staff quarters for teachers.
