NIGERIA AT 61: D-8 reaffirms commitment to Health and Social Protection

As Nigeria marks her 61st Independence Day today, the D-8 Health and Social Protection Programme has reaffirmed its commitment to support the country in achieving its health and social protection agenda, and accelerate progress towards SDGs 1, 2, and 3.

This was stated in a letter of felicitation from the Global Director of D-8 HSP, Dr. Ado Muhammad in Abuja on Friday.

The letter read: “As Nigeria celebrates 61st Independence anniversary, we felicitate with His Excellency, President Muhammad Buhari GCFR, the government and good people of Nigeria on this auspicious day”.

“We salute Nigerians for their firm commitment to a stable, united, and prosperous nation.  As a Multilateral inter-governmental platform, the D-8 Countries’ Health and Social Protection Programme remain committed to supporting the laudable initiatives of the government of Nigeria in the areas of health systems, health trades, and social protection.”

The D-8 Health and Social Protection Programme is working with governments of its Member Countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey in strengthening health systems, promoting Innovative and Sustainable financing for health, unlocking the bloc for economic prosperity through Trade in Health, and improving health policy and planning through impactful data use in the bloc.
