NCS SUPPORT BOOSTING GROWTH, STABILITY OF VOLLEYBALL PREMIER LEAGUE — MUSA NIMROD

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, has commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its consistent support towards the growth and development of volleyball in Nigeria through its partnership with the Volleyball Premier League.
Nimrod said the NCS joined the Premier League initiative two years ago to support the federation, noting that the collaboration has continued successfully into its third year.
According to him, the support from the NCS has strengthened the organisation, stability and competitiveness of the league, while also motivating players, coaches, officials and participating clubs.
He added that the league has become an important platform for discovering and nurturing young talents capable of representing Nigeria at continental and international competitions.
“The support of the NCS has brought stability and renewed confidence to the league. Their commitment has encouraged stakeholders and given athletes a stronger platform to excel,” Nimrod said.
He further called on corporate organisations and private investors to support volleyball development in Nigeria to create more opportunities for young athletes nationwide.
Currently, we have a very strong structure for volleyball administration in Nigeria. We also have various volleyball academies in virtually all the states of the federation.
Last year, we began collaboration with the National School Sports Federation (NSSF) Volleyball programme in Abuja, and this year we organised a similar school volleyball programme in Lagos.
Three years ago, we organised a grassroots volleyball development programme for young girls, where more than 100 players were invited to camp.
One of our players, Vincent Mathias, who currently plays in France, recently won the league title with his club. He emerged from the grassroots development programme.
I recently requested the list of our foreign-basedh players and, to my greatest surprise, we now have more than 40 Nigerian volleyball players competing outside the country.
