NAWOJ FCT, NCFRM Partner to End Gender Based Violence in Nigeria_Ada

As part of activities to commemorate the 2021 16 Days of Activism, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ FCT and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRM have pledged to intensify efforts towards elimination of all forms of violence against women

The Hon. Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, made the assertion during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalist (NAWOJ) FCT Chapter, and other Civil Society Groups in Abuja.

The Commissioner who condemned all sorts of Gender Based Violence and abuse in the country,commended the efforts of NAWOJ and other Civil Society Groups to curb gender based violence. She gave assurance that efforts are on to create safe spaces and provide other assistance to victims of GBV.

Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim reiterated the commitment of the commission to end GBV through its humane and strategic approach in eliminating all forms of violence against citizens especially women.

On her part, the Chairperson NAWOJ FCT, Comrade Annah Daniel who said the GBV war has gone beyond sensitization to advocacy ,stressed the need for concerted efforts by the stakeholders and CSOs in curbing the menace.

Comrade Daniel who applauded the Laudable initiatives of the Federal Commissioner in curbing gender based violence in the society,expressed optimism that with the already established relationship with the commission,more proactive measures that would better the lives of women in IDPs camps are under way.
