NAN DG Commends NYSC’s Impact on Nation Building, Youth Development at 53

The Director-General of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has praised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its enduring contributions to national development as the scheme marks its 53rd anniversary.

Ali highlighted the NYSC’s achievements in youth empowerment, community development, healthcare outreach, education, job creation and the promotion of national unity, describing the scheme as a critical pillar of Nigeria’s development efforts.

He also paid tribute to past and serving Corps Members deployed to NAN, commending their dedication, professionalism and positive impact on the agency’s operations over the years.

The NAN boss further lauded the leadership of the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, noting that the scheme had continued to record progress and innovation under his stewardship.

Ali made the remarks while receiving the NYSC Director-General during a courtesy visit to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

He stressed the need for developmental journalism that supports national growth and reaffirmed NAN’s commitment to projecting Nigeria’s achievements and African narratives to the global audience.

Responding, Brigadier General Nafiu expressed appreciation to NAN for its consistent and objective coverage of the activities and programmes of the NYSC.

He pledged to strengthen the existing partnership between the two organisations and assured that the scheme would continue to introduce innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing its contributions to national development.

The NYSC Director-General reiterated the scheme’s commitment to sustaining its legacy of service, youth development and nation-building.
