The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture has convened a strategic roundtable breakfast meeting aimed at boosting Nigeria’s trade and export competitiveness, as stakeholders across sectors called for urgent reforms to unlock the country’s export potential.
The consultative meeting, held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Radisson Hotel, was themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Export Potential: Policy Alignment, Private-Sector Readiness, and Trade Facilitation.” It provided a platform for robust discussions on leveraging export-led growth as a driver of economic transformation.
In her keynote address, Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Kaosarat Bada Ambrose, underscored Nigeria’s continued dependence on crude oil exports while noting encouraging growth in the non-oil sector. She stressed that sustainable economic progress would depend heavily on improving export performance in agro-processing, manufacturing, and solid minerals.
Delivering a presentation on “Unlocking Nigeria’s Export Potential,” Taiwo Ajetunmobi, representing Joseph Tegbe of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, outlined three critical pillars for achieving competitiveness: policy alignment, private-sector readiness, and trade facilitation excellence. He emphasized the need for coordinated policy implementation, improved business capacity, and streamlined trade processes to position Nigeria more effectively in the global market.
The meeting, hosted by NACCIMA National President Jani Ibrahim, who was represented by Yahaya Idris, drew participation from key stakeholders in both public and private sectors.
Other notable attendees included Kayode Adeyemi, Jasper Nduagwuike, Ibukun Efuntayo, Chigozie Okpara, Oyefunke Oworu, and Amina Lawal-Aliyu.
Corporate sponsors and partners such as Colenson Brokers, Alternative Credit and Assets Ltd, WVL Development Advisors, Meristem Securities Ltd, Advocate Law Practice, Keystone Bank, Salbodi Group Ltd, JEE Limited, and Sunbath Global were also represented.
The event concluded with award presentations coordinated by Mrs. Oworu, a vote of thanks by NACCIMA Director-General Sola Obadimu, and a networking session among participants.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that outcomes from the roundtable would contribute to shaping policies and strategies capable of enhancing Nigeria’s export competitiveness and reducing its reliance on oil revenues.
