Information Minister, Idris Urges APC Stakeholders in Niger to Unite for Stronger Democracy

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State to embrace reconciliation, unity and mutual respect as essential pillars for strengthening the party and deepening Nigeria’s democracy.
Speaking at the Niger State APC Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Government House in Minna, Idris urged party leaders and members to put aside their differences and work collectively in the interest of the APC, Niger State and the nation.
He stressed that political disagreements should never be allowed to undermine the progress of the state or the country’s democratic development.
“Let us heal our divisions and strengthen our democracy. Political differences should never be allowed to undermine our collective interest or the progress of Niger State. We must close ranks and work together in the spirit of unity, brotherhood and shared responsibility,” the Minister said.
Idris noted that democracy flourishes when leaders prioritise the common good above personal interests, adding that the APC’s continued success at both national and state levels depends on dialogue, inclusiveness and internal cohesion.
He commended Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Umaru Mohammed Bago, for convening the stakeholders’ meeting, describing it as a timely platform for consultation, reconciliation and renewed commitment to the ideals of the ruling party.
Highlighting the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Minister said the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has enabled more than one million students to access higher education. He also cited the growth of Nigeria’s foreign reserves to about $50 billion and the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of over 2,000 kilometres of roads across the country, including the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway.
Idris further praised the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, describing it as a strategic initiative that will unlock economic opportunities, particularly in Northern Nigeria, while enhancing agriculture, livestock production and food security.
He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Bago in their efforts to promote sustainable development and improve the welfare of citizens.
