Information Minister Congratulates Ibietan on Re-Election as APRA Secretary General

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has congratulated Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan on his re-election as Secretary General of the African Public Relations Association, describing the achievement as a testament to his professionalism, dedication, and significant contributions to the public relations profession across Africa.
Dr. Ibietan secured another term during the APRA General Assembly held in Swakopmund, where Mr. Arik Karani of Kenya was elected President and Professor Michele Mekeme of Cameroon emerged as Vice President.
In a congratulatory message, the Minister said the re-election reflects the confidence reposed in Dr. Ibietan by public relations professionals across the continent and their trust in his ability to advance APRA’s vision.
“On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, I congratulate Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan on his well-deserved re-election as Secretary General of APRA. This honour is not only a recognition of his professional excellence but also a source of pride for Nigeria and the entire communications community,” Idris stated.
The Minister expressed confidence that Dr. Ibietan would continue to provide purposeful leadership as APRA strengthens collaboration among communication professionals across Africa and advances the continent’s digital transformation agenda.
Idris also commended APRA for its sustained commitment to promoting professionalism, ethical communication, and capacity development within the public relations industry across Africa.
He further noted that Nigeria is looking forward to hosting the 37th APRA Annual Conference alongside the World Public Relations Forum in Abuja later this year, describing the event as an opportunity to showcase the country’s commitment to advancing strategic communication and public relations on the continent.
