Hamzat Backs Dynamic Athletics Meet, Pledges More Support for Young Talents

Alhaji Imran Oladimeji Hamzat, Convener of the Omo Ekoh Movement and Chairman/Managing Director of GML Oil and LED West Africa Limited, has pledged increased support for the Dynamic Athletics Meet and the development of young Nigerian talents.
Hamzat made the commitment while speaking in an exclusive interview with FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG at the third edition of the Dynamic Athletics Meet, which attracted promising athletes from different parts of Nigeria and across various age categories.
Expressing delight at the impressive turnout and the quality of performances, Hamzat said the talents on display had strengthened his determination to invest more in youth development, particularly grassroots sports.
“I am here to watch my talents. The younger generation are doing a lot, and I am so impressed by what I have seen here today,” he said.
According to him, supporting young Nigerians has remained a key priority of his activities, with interventions covering sports, entertainment and education.
“We have always been very supportive of the younger generation. We want this generation to achieve their goals and build themselves into what they want to become in the future,” Hamzat stated.
He expressed optimism that some of the athletes participating in the competition could eventually represent Nigeria and Africa at major international competitions and possibly surpass existing national records.
“I see many of these young athletes representing Nigeria and the continent at a very high level. Some of them could even break records that have already been set at the national level,” he said.
Beyond sports, Hamzat called on Nigerian youths to take greater interest in governance and the democratic process, noting that government policies have a direct impact on their careers, businesses and future.
He said the Omo Ekoh Movement was committed to educating and mobilising young people to participate actively in elections and decision-making processes.
“One of the things we are doing is enlightening the younger generation to get involved in elections so that they can be part of decision-making. They must be involved in deciding the people who will make policies that affect their careers and future,” he stated.
The Omo Ekoh Movement convener said his experience at the athletics meet had further inspired him to explore additional ways of supporting grassroots sports and creating opportunities for emerging talents.
“The sky is the limit. Watching them here is inspiring me to find a way to invest further in the younger generation and in the sports industry generally,” he added.
Hamzat disclosed that the Omo Ekoh Movement was already engaging corporate organisations, government institutions, financial institutions and other stakeholders to create more opportunities for young Nigerians.
The third edition of the Dynamic Athletics Meet provided another platform for emerging athletes to demonstrate their abilities, with Hamzat’s renewed commitment expected to contribute to the growth of grassroots athletics and youth development in Nigeria.
