The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has assured travellers and aviation stakeholders that comprehensive safety measures have been activated across the country’s international airports following reports of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreaks in parts of Central Africa.
FAAN said it is working closely with Port Health Services, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and other relevant agencies to strengthen health surveillance, particularly for passengers arriving from affected regions.
According to the authority, screening procedures have been intensified at entry points, with health officials monitoring passengers for symptoms linked to Ebola. Any suspected case, it stated, would be immediately isolated for further medical evaluation in line with national and international public health guidelines.
The agency also disclosed that airport personnel have undergone enhanced sensitisation and emergency response protocols have been reinforced to ensure rapid intervention whenever necessary.
FAAN stressed that Nigeria has not recorded any confirmed Ebola case, but noted that precautionary measures remain critical to protecting public health and ensuring safe airport operations nationwide.
The authority urged passengers to remain calm, cooperate with ongoing health checks, and promptly report any suspected symptoms to health officials at the airports.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards across all Nigerian airports.
