The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo demonstrated unwavering commitment and proactive leadership in advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector through a series of strategic engagements on May 15, 2024.

In a remarkable display of dedication to enhancing air travel operations, the Minister embarked on a multi-faceted itinerary that underscored his vision for the industry’s growth and efficiency.

His day commenced with an official visit to the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Kebbi, in company of heads of relevant agencies, including Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and Alhaji Umar Faruk, Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to flag-off the commencement of Kebbi State’s 2024 Hajj operations. Notable dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, His Excellency Comr. Dr. Nasir Idris, Governor of Kebbi State and His Royal Majesty, the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammed Sa’ad Abubbakar, graced the occasion, highlighting the significance of the event.

Subsequently, the Minister also supervised the smooth departure of pilgrims from the Abuja/Nasarawa region at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, ensuring seamless logistics for travelers embarking on their sacred journey.

In a pivotal moment for border management and security enhancement, the Aviation Minister, in collaboration with the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, unveiled the new Advance Passengers Information (API) and Passengers’ Name Record (PNR) office at the Nigeria Immigration Headquarters, Abuja. This groundbreaking initiative represents a significant stride in Travelers’ Identification Management, fostering efficient cross-border movements while bolstering security measures.

Speaking on the importance of the API/PNR solution, the Aviation Minister emphasized the critical role of collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and international partners in achieving sustainable advancements in border management and aviation security.

Through his dynamic leadership and tireless efforts for the aviation sector, the Minister has continued to spearhead transformative initiatives aimed at propelling Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace sector to unprecedented heights.
