VIGO, SPAIN — Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, His Excellency Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, has used the 2026 International Frozen Seafood Exhibition (CONXEMAR), in Vigo, Spain, to promote Nigeria’s blue economy and explore opportunities for increased Spanish investment in the country’s fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
Ambassador Ikpeazu participated in the opening ceremony of CONXEMAR 2026 on Tuesday, October 6, at the IFEVI Exhibition Centre in Vigo, Galicia.
The 27th edition of the international exhibition brings together major players in the global frozen seafood industry and serves as a platform for business networking, investment discussions and partnerships across the fisheries, aquaculture, marine and seafood value chains.
The opening ceremony attracted prominent Spanish and international dignitaries, including the President of the Xunta de Galicia, senior representatives of the Spanish Government, the President of CONXEMAR, the Mayor of Vigo, members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, business leaders and other stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture industries.
On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Ikpeazu held discussions with CONXEMAR officials and representatives of several companies operating in packaging, marine and fisheries-related industries.
The engagements focused on opportunities for collaboration and investment, particularly in areas capable of supporting the development of Nigeria’s blue economy.
The Embassy said the interactions form part of its continuing efforts to strengthen Nigeria-Spain economic relations, attract Spanish investment and create partnerships that can contribute to the development of Nigeria’s maritime, fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
The participation also highlights Nigeria’s efforts to position its vast marine and aquatic resources as drivers of economic diversification, investment and job creation.
