Dr. Somadina Anene Celebrates 60th Birthday with Launch of New Real Estate Investment Book

Abuja- Leading estate surveyor, real estate developer, investment consultant and academic, Dr. Johnson Somadina Anene, marked his 60th birthday with the public presentation of his latest book, Dynamics of Real Estate Investment, a publication designed to equip investors, professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs with practical knowledge for building sustainable wealth through real estate.
The colourful ceremony attracted prominent figures from government, the private sector, the diplomatic corps, professional associations, traditional institutions and the real estate industry, who gathered to celebrate Dr. Anene’s distinguished career of more than 35 years and his enduring contributions to Nigeria’s property sector.
Chairman of the occasion, Victor Umeh, who chairs the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, praised Dr. Anene for his immense impact on the nation’s real estate industry. He described the book as a timely and practical resource that offers valuable insights for investors and professionals seeking to navigate the complexities of the real estate market.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Senator Ubah, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), representatives of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, estate surveyors and valuers, real estate developers, members of the diplomatic community, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders.
Reviewing the 265-page publication, Professor Adesoji Adesugba, First Deputy President of the ACCI, described Dynamics of Real Estate Investment as a rich blend of practical experience and academic research, reflecting more than three decades of the author’s professional journey. He said the book provides a valuable reference for investors, policymakers, practitioners and students by translating years of industry experience into practical investment strategies.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Anene said the book was inspired by the need to bridge the knowledge gap in the real estate industry through research-based and practical investment guidance.
He noted that while many people wrongly assume that real estate investment is either reserved exclusively for the wealthy or requires little technical knowledge, the reality is that success in the sector depends on sound understanding, patience, strategic planning and informed decision-making.
According to him, the publication examines capital flows, market trends, investment signals and data-driven approaches that can help investors identify opportunities, minimise risks and build long-term wealth. He added that the book also advocates human capital development, improved housing delivery and a stronger contribution of the real estate sector to Nigeria’s economic growth.
Dr. Anene is the Principal Partner of Som Anene & Partners, a firm of Chartered Estate Surveyors and Valuers, and Chief Executive Officer of Shelter Aid Group, a real estate and investment company established in 1996. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), a member of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Convener of the annual Real Estate and Construction Exhibition, Conference and Symposium (RECON Expo), and Chairman of the Abuja Trade Center (ATC).
With academic qualifications in Estate Management, Project Management, Business Management and Administration, Dr. Anene has built a distinguished career spanning professional practice, investment consulting, property development and academia.
