The maiden edition of the National Schools Football Championship (NSFC) will come to a glamorous close on Monday at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, with champions set to emerge in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.

Hosts FOSLA Academy Abuja are aiming for a historic double as both their boys’ and girls’ teams contest the finals.
In the boys’ final, FOSLA Academy will face Brilliant Academy of Toro, Bauchi State, in a rematch of the tournament’s opening fixture, which the Abuja side won convincingly.

FOSLA secured their place in the final after a commanding 8-1 victory over Divine Mercy School, Asokoro, in the semi-finals, with Felix Tanko Bulus scoring twice. Brilliant Academy booked their spot by defeating Parliament International School, Apo, 5-3, inspired by a brace from Ibrahim Haussaini.
Before the championship decider, Divine Mercy School and Parliament International School will battle for third place.

FOSLA Academy’s girls’ team will also be in action, taking on Government Secondary School, Lugbe, in the final as they seek to complete a memorable double triumph.

In addition to the team trophies, organisers will present individual awards for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer and Best Goalkeeper.

President and Founder of the KickStart Sports Foundation, organisers of the championship, said the competition was established to discover young football talents while promoting grassroots football through education, expressing optimism that the annual tournament would provide a platform for nurturing future stars of Nigerian football.
