The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says electricity distribution companies (DisCos) recorded improvements in billing, revenue collection and overall financial performance in April 2026, with Eko, Abuja and Ikeja DisCos emerging as the top performers in recovery efficiency.

According to NERC’s April 2026 commercial performance report, the country’s 12 DisCos achieved a billing efficiency of 83.32 per cent, with electricity worth ₦252.43 billion billed out of the ₦302.96 billion worth of energy received during the month.

The report also showed that collection efficiency rose to 80.66 per cent, enabling the DisCos to generate total revenue of ₦203.61 billion in April.

NERC said the industry’s overall revenue recovery efficiency stood at 82.11 per cent, representing a 1.06 percentage point improvement over the previous month, reflecting continued progress in the financial health and operational efficiency of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

Among the electricity distribution companies, Eko DisCo recorded the highest recovery efficiency at 102.09 per cent, followed by Abuja DisCo with 89.77 per cent and Ikeja DisCo with 88.89 per cent.

The commission noted that the monthly performance indicators provide insights into the operational and financial performance of electricity distribution companies, serving as a benchmark for monitoring improvements in service delivery and revenue recovery across the power sector.

NERC urged stakeholders and electricity consumers to review the full April 2026 report for more details on the industry’s commercial performance and ongoing efforts to strengthen the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
