Renowned Broadcast Journalist Sandra Chukwugekwu Receives 2026 Outstanding Achievement Award

Senior Broadcast Journalist and Diplomatic Editor with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Comrade Sandra Chukwugekwu, has been honoured with the 2026 Outstanding Achievement Award by her parish, All Saints Catholic Church, Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, in recognition of her contributions to journalism, humanity and national development.

The award was presented during the Parish Laity Council Funfair held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the church’s Zone 5 premises in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Festus Okoye, described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Chukwugekwu’s immense contributions to the Church, humanity and the nation.

He commended her dedication to service and the positive impact she has made through her professional and community engagements.

Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Emmanuel Inja, who presented the award, said the recognition was in appreciation of her unwavering commitment to truth, accountability and responsible journalism.

According to him, Chukwugekwu has consistently distinguished herself in the media profession through quality reporting on governance, diplomacy, development and issues of public interest, earning respect as a voice of professionalism and integrity in Nigeria’s broadcast industry.

The organisers described the award recipient, who serves as Manager News and Diplomatic Editor at FRCN and anchors the current affairs programme Africa This Week, as a journalist whose career exemplifies service, excellence and commitment to national development.

Responding to the honour, Chukwugekwu expressed gratitude to the church for the recognition, describing the award as both humbling and inspiring.
“I am sincerely grateful to All Saints Catholic Church for this honour. It is deeply humbling and I do not take it for granted. This award is a reminder to continue to serve with even greater dedication, integrity and commitment to responsible journalism,” she said.

The award highlights the growing recognition of media professionals whose work contributes to nation-building, public enlightenment and the promotion of ethical values in society.
