Patrick Chiwuba Ndubueze has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Imo North Senatorial Zone following the conclusion of the party’s primaries.
Field reports from all electoral wards across Imo North indicated that the incumbent senator secured a landslide victory with 108,862 votes, defeating former senator Ifeanyi Ararume, who polled 79 votes.
The outcome followed a series of political consultations and withdrawals by key aspirants, including Chief Longers Anyanwu, Dr. Gloria Akobundu, and Chief Ike Odoeme, who reportedly stepped down in support of Senator Ndubueze after interventions by the state party leadership.
The reconciliation efforts were said to have been coordinated by the Imo State APC Chairman, Hon. Austin Onyedebulu, during a meeting at the party’s state secretariat. The process was further strengthened by a meeting between Hope Uzodinma and Senator Ararume at the Imo State Government House on Monday.
The final declaration of the primary election results was made at the Okigwe Local Government Area headquarters by Rear Admiral Williams Kayode, Chairman of the APC National Assembly Primary Election Panel.
Exited supporters and party stakeholders have since congratulated Senator Ndubueze on his emergence, describing the outcome as a major consolidation of APC strength in the Imo North Senatorial District ahead of the next general election.
