Ambassador Musa Muhammed Tsoken has commended the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, for spearheading an ambitious agricultural mechanisation drive aimed at transforming Nigeria’s food production landscape.

Tsoken described the initiative as a bold and strategic step toward addressing food insecurity while empowering farmers across the country. According to him, the planned deployment of about 2,000 tractors and nearly 9,000 precision implements signals a renewed commitment by the Federal Government to modernise farming and improve productivity.

He noted that the mechanisation programme would significantly reduce the burden of manual labour on farmers, expand cultivated land, and increase yields, particularly for staple crops essential to national food stability.

The ambassador also praised the ministry’s complementary interventions, including the distribution of rice and cassava processing machines to farmers, as well as tricycles and other logistics support tools aimed at easing transportation challenges in rural communities.
“These efforts go beyond cultivation. They address the full agricultural value chain—processing, storage, and distribution—ensuring that farmers not only produce more but also earn more,” Tsoken stated.

He further emphasised that the initiative would make agriculture more attractive to young Nigerians and agribusiness investors, thereby creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.

Reaffirming his support, Tsoken urged stakeholders in the agricultural sector to align with the minister’s vision, noting that sustained collaboration would be key to achieving long-term food security and national development.

The Federal Government’s mechanisation push is widely seen as one of the most extensive in recent times, reflecting a broader strategy to build a resilient and self-sufficient agricultural economy.
