TCN Hosts Maiden Female Staff Meeting to Strengthen Professional Presence

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has convened its first-ever all-female staff meeting, urging women across its workforce to deepen professionalism and enhance their influence through confidence, discipline, and continuous self-improvement.

The Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi Fadahunsi, delivered the charge during the meeting held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the company’s headquarters in Abuja. She described professional presence as a daily demonstration of competence, credibility, and strong character.

Fadahunsi emphasized that female employees must uphold the same high standards of excellence and reliability that define TCN’s operations. She encouraged women to confidently express their expertise and take initiative within their roles.
“As women, we must be comfortable expressing our knowledge and making decisions within our scope. Whether in the control room, on site, or in management meetings, let us speak with clarity and confidence,” she said.

She added that building professional presence is not about competition but about collective growth and impact. According to her, when women project confidence, discipline, and excellence, they not only advance their careers but also contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s reputation and performance.

The session also featured a series of presentations by senior female managers, addressing key aspects of workplace development.

The General Manager, Legal/Company Secretary, Mrs. Fatima Muhtar, spoke on the importance of corporate appearance in her presentation titled “Dressing Right: The Power of Corporate Appearance.” She noted that appearance plays a critical role in shaping first impressions and professional opportunities.

Similarly, the General Manager, Medical, Dr. Agatha Edet-Ademiluyi, delivered a session on workplace wellness, urging staff to adopt healthy lifestyles to improve productivity and prevent burnout. She highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, exercise, regular medical check-ups, and effective time management.

Other presentations included insights on workplace relationships, transparency and accountability, and corporate security. The General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, emphasized respect and boundaries in building productive work relationships, noting that respect is a continuous practice. The General Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Mrs. Jane Okemini Nneka, underscored the need for transparency and accountability, while the General Manager, Corporate Security Services, Mrs. Jemila Tani, highlighted the shared responsibility of maintaining workplace security.

The meeting drew participation from female staff across departments at TCN’s corporate headquarters, including representatives from ICT, Audit, Legal, Medical, Public Affairs, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Corporate Security.

The initiative forms part of TCN’s broader commitment to promoting gender inclusion, strengthening workplace culture, and driving professional excellence across its operations.
