Abuja, April 29, 2026 — The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Suleman, has announced plans for a landmark National Women Mega Empowerment Programme and Rally aimed at strengthening economic inclusion, social protection, and leadership opportunities for women across Nigeria. The objective is to reach 10 Million Women.

Briefing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister described the initiative as a strategic intervention aligned with the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusive development. She noted that the programme will bring together thousands of women from diverse backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, artisans, farmers, and young professionals.

According to Suleman, the empowerment scheme will feature the distribution of business grants, vocational tools, and capacity-building support designed to boost productivity and financial independence among beneficiaries.

She added that targeted training sessions in digital skills, agribusiness, and small-scale enterprise management will form a key component of the programme.
“The National Women Mega Empowerment Programme is not just an event, but a movement to unlock the full potential of Nigerian women as drivers of economic growth and national development,” the Minister stated.

She further revealed that the rally will serve as a platform to amplify advocacy on issues affecting women, including access to finance, gender-based violence prevention, and increased participation in governance. Key stakeholders from government agencies, development partners, civil society organisations, and the private sector are expected to participate.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to implementing policies and programmes that directly impact the lives of women at the grassroots, stressing that empowering women remains central to achieving sustainable national progress.

The upcoming event is expected to mark one of the largest coordinated empowerment drives for women in recent times, reinforcing the government’s broader agenda of inclusive growth and social equity.
