Nigeria Launches Capacity Building for Conflict Early Warning Response Group

The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), and the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG) Project have launched a capacity enhancement programme for members of the Early Warning Response Group (EWRG) in Abuja, Nigeria.
Speaking during his remarks, the Director General of IPCR. Dr. K heDr. Joseph Ochogwu said the objectives include:
Strengthen Nigeria’s Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) system
Enhance rapid and coordinated response mechanisms at national, state, and community levels
Bridge the gap between early warning and early response
Promote technology integration for conflict prevention and peacebuilding
Challenges addressed through Fragmented EWER framework, limited trust in security a delayed responses to security threats*
Importance of EWRG:
– Critical component of Nigeria’s peace and security architecture
– Central to accelerating timely and coordinated responses to conflicts
– Key to building confidence and promoting peaceful coexistence*
The programme aims to leverage technology to harmonize and strengthen collective response efforts, promoting a more robust and effective response to early warning signals.
