Senator Owan Enoh Calls for Improved Nigeria/China Strategic Partnership

The Minister of State for Industry in Nigeria, Senator John Owan Enoh Wednesday, received Ambassador Yu Dun hai, the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria who paid a courtesy visit to him at his office in Abuja. The Minister who welcomed the three man Chinese delegation led by the ambassador called for increased strategic partnership between the two countries for shared prosperity.
Senator Enoh thanked Ambassador Yu Dun hai for applauding the reformist agenda of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration maintained that for the ongoing reforms of the present administration to yield the desired results, Nigeria should leverage and harness advantages inherrent in its huge population. He praised Chinese support for the reforms in form of several multilateral loans neccessary for the country’s development. The Minister who said Nigeria and China have a lot in common lauded the role being played by many Chinese companies such as CCCE in the country’s development. He assured the ambassador and his team that he looked forward to participating in the BRICS Summit that will be hosted by China later this year adding that he was deeply interested in an outcome that will fastrack Nigeria’s industrialization.
Earlier, Ambassador Yu Dun hai stated that Nigeria has made a lot of progress under the admninistration of President Tinubu. He noted that the ongoing reforms under the present admnistration has huge potentials to unleash Nigeria’s full take-off as an economic power. The ambassador who described Nigeria as a great partner observed that if the country becomes stronger, it can forge a strong partnership with China on the global stage.
He expressed the preparadness of China to provide zero tariff on goods for Nigeria and some African countries. He however noted that this initiative is being hampered by WTO Protocol. He called for Framework Agreement defining the purpose and principle of the process as a first step towards achieving this zero tariff regime.
