DRIVING NIGERIAN INDUSTRY FORWARD: Minister of  State for Industry Meets with NADDC

The Honorable Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, today held a strategic session with the leadership of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC). The meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s headquarters, focused on charting a dynamic course for Nigeria’s automotive industry.

The NADDC has a vision to
Position Nigeria as one of the leading automotive manufacturing nations in the world.They are dedicated to developing the Nigerian automotive industry by recommending incentives and protective measures for the industry. The council also supports the establishment and operations of automotive assembly plants and component manufacturers, ensuring that the highest standards are met.

The agency provided an in-depth briefing on its ongoing initiatives, including efforts to boost local vehicle production, expand the electric vehicle ecosystem, and enhance automotive policies to attract investments and drive innovation.

Senator John Enoh lauded the agency’s presentation,questioned the results produced thus far and highlighted key action points to be carried out.These include,but not limited to , stimulating the demand for locally assembled vehicles in the country ,with the cardinal objective of ensuring cost effective ways to service and maintain these locally assembled vehicles by users, as the high cost of servicing and maintenance has been a major complaint.

The Minister of State for Industry stated his commitment to give the right leadership and pledged the Ministry’s full support in ensuring that the sector overcomes challenges and aligns with global standards.

The engagement underscores the Ministry’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s industrial agenda and fostering sustainable economic growth.

Present at the engagement were the Special Adviser to Mr President on Industry, Trade and Investment ,Mr John Ugochukwu Uwajumogu, the Director General of the NADDC,Mr Joseph Osanipin along with other directors and staff of the NADDC,directors of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment amongst other critical stakeholders.
