NSCDC CG SIS dismantles reconstructed illegal refineries in Abia State, says no room for Economic Sabotage

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has foiled an attempt to reconstruct some illegal refineries in a thick forest located at Obiakpu/Obuzor Communities in Abia State;
Narrating the ordeal of the CG’s SIS in achieving this feat; the Squad Commander, DC Appolos Dandaura said the operatives acted based on credible Intelligence that some criminal elements had reconstructed new illegal refineries which had earlier dislodged at the the crime scene.
He decried the unrepentant act of those engaging in Vandalism of oil pipelines, Crude oil theft and illegal oil merchandise thereby sabotaging the economy of the nation.
DC Appolos said the crime scene was initially invaded and dismantled by his men and for a while, there have been no illegal bunkering activities noticed in the area but consequent on the intelligence gathered the suspects regrouped, reconstructed cooking ovens, refabricated pipes and other locally refining materials to commence their production of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), DPK amongst others.
“In the course of the operation, we sighted some trampoline reservoirs, galvanized metal pipes being laid and connected to the oil trunk, Industrial hoses newly laid and cooking pots”.
“At the illegal refining site, we sighted over 50 Metallic drums used as ovens, about 600 galvanized pipes, and 30 metallic open reservoirs. Different sizer of Industrial hoses, although no suspects have been arrested in this regard but efforts are on top gear to effect their arrest”.
