Wife of the Katsina State Governor, Haj. Hadiza Aminu Bello Masari has made the case on the need for people of the state to maintain a clean hygienic environment to prevent the scourge of malaria.

She made her position known today while playing host to the delegation of the State Support to National Malaria Programme in Katsina.

According to Haj Hadiza Masari, the government has put all human efforts in place to see that it eradicates malaria hence the need for people of the state to complement the effort by keeping their environment clean.

” Cleanliness is next to godliness, and I’m calling on the people of the state to imbibe the culture of keeping our environment clean to help in the fight against this deadliest disease called malaria in our society for a healthy nation”.

On her part, Hafsat Musa Baba who is a team leader, State Support to National Malaria Programme in Katsina, commended Governor Aminu Bello Masari for creating an enabling field for them to operate.

‘We must commend government in helping us with the fight against malaria and for enabling free treatment for persons especially women and children diagnosed with malaria in the state.

She then appealed to government and other international body to support the project noting that it is because of the high demand of malaria drugs in the hospital.

Earlier, Director, Malaria and Sickle Cell Disease at the Katsina State Ministry for Health, Dr. Lawal Aliyu Rabe said the state has recorded a tremendous support over 5 years because the state government has made it mandatory for free treatment of every citizen who tested positive to malaria.

Representatives of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) were part of the visit as they promised to support in educating women in terms of cleanliness for a malaria free Katsina.
