A former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation to Ex President Goodluck Jonathan, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim
who gave a lecture themed “The Challenges of Leadership in 21st Century”, has urged the Federal Government of To prepare adequately to meet up with the increasing population and fast developing pace of technology.

He appraised the dawn of the 21st Century ( the first 20 years), streesing that the industrial revolution started in 1760 when the whole of Africa was in darkness but took turns of improvements even up to the 30th century. He explained that the beginning of the 21st which x-rayed as Industrilisation Patten of the 20 century which moved the world from agrigarian to industrial settings which saw new skills, enhancement of professionals financial values and the increased applications of Science and technologies which disrupted many traditional methods.

Anyim noted that the 21 century the new media is the bed rock of the paradigm shift in the globe. The speed and ease of the new media has affected the society and even Governments because communication is key to what we do. Advance on robotics and artificial intelligence has occupied largely the human occupation in the labour market”, he said

He cautioned that if we are not prepared by to key into the new world noting the 5G technology is taking over in the world no matter what we think of it, because change must come.

Any body aspiring to lead the people must embrace the revolutionary changes or run into problems with his followers”, he opined.

Senator Pius made predictions of what to expect in next 80 years and beyond to include:
A. Collapse of the oil economy is likely to reach the rock bottom as the globe may alternatives. Then prepare for none oil economy.

B. Population Explosion as in the 80 years Nigeria will be up to 400 million with a world population rising from
7.7 – 11 billion. in the 13. B in 2029

C. A new wave of citizenship awareness. People we seek to know more about how the are governed. There will no much deceit

D. Greater increase in automation industry we machines will take over human labour…. Retooling our skills is inevitable…

He said that already UAE and Ruwandan leaders are adapting and Nigeria has no excuse because UAE was also a colony of UAE with the merging of 7 Emirates.

“If you follow the way of success, you will succeed”, he expressed noting that the future will not be driven by Oil, Agric and expiring projects. He also advised government to be “youthcentric”.

In his remarks, Senator Shehu Sani said that the young people are not ready to take Injustice going by what they have done in #END SARS. He added that the hudlooms we are condemning today were bred by politicians.

He said that intimation of the END SARS protesters is not the best as the youths have demonstrated the unity of the country by using the national flag to demonstrate during the protest.

He called on all citzens to embrace equity just as he added the social media can not be clamped down. That we should not be fooled by the usual message of restructuring that come only on the hills of elections.

He advised those in positions of authority to do the right thing so that they also will be protected by the established human rights after power.
He talked about the Lumben Protectorair.

In his welcome remarks, the HURIWA National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, emphasized the need to stir Nigeria away from underdevelopment to an advanced society.

He also condemned the call for Amnesty International to leave Nigeria, noting that anyone that threatens a Civil Society Organization is constituting public nuisance and should be arrested.

He appealed to the government to take actions in reforming the police so that Nigerians can see an end to police brutality and torture. “If the police are properly trained, there won’t be need for the use of torture. Nigerian government should invest in intelligence gathering for the police as they have the largest presence all over the country”.

He condemned the call for some groups who called on the Amnesty Intertional to leave Nigeria urged security agent to arrest those who made the call.

HURIWA President who charged the government to seriously look at the issue of creating employment for the youth, also called for the reopening of schools.
“Why are the Universities still closed and those who closed it have their children overseas to schooling.
“Why are the lecturers scared of enumeration in the government listing”, he asked.

Speaking the Chairman of the occasion, Comrade Danladi Boyis Hassan, also condemned the call to sack Amnesty Intertional and Commended HURIWA for putting up the event.

The event saw the presentation of awards to Dr Kayode Ajulo, Comrade Danladi Boyis, the Human Rights Baby of the Year and Human Rights Queen among others.
