UNICAL SECURITY NABS SUSPECTED ROBBER

Officers of the University of Calabar Security Team have nabbed a robbery suspect. The man whose name is Kinghope Ubi was arrested at the institution’s ICT Centre with his two friends suspected to be accomplices.

They met their Waterloo as they used toy guns to threaten and snatch from one Akomaye Ephraim his Camon 16 phone worth around #108,000.

When interrogated, Ubi, who is not a student of the school said he came to visit his girlfriend and he decided to rob people. He also confessed that he got the gun from his friend.

Passport of him wearing the uniform of the Nigeria Customs Service was found on him and he alluded that he was dismissed from the agency in 2021.

The Acting Chief Security Officer of UNICAL, Usani Okon, a retired Superintendent of Police said that the Florence Obi-led administration frowns completely at any indecent acts in the institution and she has upgraded the security unit to protect students and staff from such criminal activities.

The suspect is in the custody of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Squad of the Police for further investigation.
