The Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of retired uniformed officers, stating that their well-being remains a top priority under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the Minister praised the dedication and sacrifices of retired personnel, assuring that ongoing reforms are designed to ensure that no officer retires into hardship.

Tunji-Ojo noted that recent improvements in welfare packages, pension administration, and career progression pathways reflect the administration’s resolve to reward service and boost morale within the ranks. He added that the clearing of longstanding promotion backlogs is part of broader efforts to strengthen institutional efficiency and motivation among serving officers.

Reacting to the development, Chukwura Joseph Udeh commended President Tinubu for approving a long-awaited lifetime salary structure for senior officers, describing the move as a major relief after years of neglect.

The renewed focus on welfare and structural reforms, stakeholders say, is expected to enhance confidence among both serving and retired personnel across the country’s uniformed services.
