TEAM NASARAWA SHINE ON DAY FOUR OF NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL IN OGUN, NOW 13TH ON MEDALS’ TABLE.

Team Nasarawa continued with their impressive performance on Day Four of the ongoing 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival holding in Abeokuta, Ogun State, winning a total of six medals.
After Agada Elijah’s gold medal ecstatic win in the Poomsae Taekwondo Demonstration Event, Ovey Haruna won the State’s second medal in the Men’s -65kg Kung-Fu Wushu Event, earlier on Wednesday.
Charles Chiemerie Obayi won silver medal for the State despite losing his final fight against Jude Chibuzor of Rivers’ State in the Men’s -85kg Kung-Fu Wushu category.
Athletes’ Captain, Beauty Timothy, was in the pool of her blood but overcame the odds to clinch a Bronze Medal in the Women’s -52kg Kung-Fu Wushu category, behind her Ogun State opponent, Ayisatu Obiyomi.
Like Beauty Timothy, Owulama Akolo had to fight through injuries in the Semi-Final of the Men’s -90kg Category, gallantly bowing out to Chikaodi Uginanyi of Imo State.
Sunmisola Popoola settled for a Bronze Medal for Team Nasarawa in the Women’s -48kg category, failing against Ajiboye Precious.
The State Team have so far won one Gold, one Silver, and four Bronze medals respectively.
But with Wednesday’s won Medals yet to be reflected on the Medals’ table, Team Nasarawa are temporarily 13th position on the table, with the expectations of a higher rise after other medals won on Wednesday are captured accordingly, and subsequent progress at the Festival.
Over ten thousand athletes drawn from the 36 States of the Federation and FCT Abuja, including Invited Junior Athletes, IJA, are competing for laurels at the biennial national multi-sports event which is also opened to international athletes.
There will be more games in the coming days as participants continue to manifest eagerness to signpost their sporting ingenuity.
