Residents of Iwo Town and surrounding communities in Osun State are expected to experience a temporary power outage as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) undertakes routine annual maintenance on a major transformer at the Iwo Transmission Substation.
In a notice issued on Thursday, TCN said maintenance work would be carried out on the 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as part of efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the national transmission network.
The company explained that during the maintenance period, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) would be unable to receive electricity supply from the substation, resulting in a seven-hour interruption of power supply to customers in Iwo Town, Bowen University and the Rabbish area.
TCN noted that the scheduled exercise forms part of its routine maintenance programme aimed at ensuring stable and efficient electricity transmission across its network.
The transmission company appealed for the understanding of affected customers and apologised for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause.
According to TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, normal electricity supply will be restored immediately after the successful completion of the maintenance work.
