The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has restored electricity supply to parts of Abuja following the completion of a two-hour maintenance exercise at its Gwagwalada 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

The maintenance exercise, which was scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026, between 10:00am and 12:00pm, was carried out by TCN’s maintenance crew to connect an earthing reactor to a 60MVA, 132/33kV power transformer at the substation.

The exercise temporarily affected power supply to customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Watson Door, Gwagwalada and adjoining areas, as AEDC was unable to offtake electricity during the maintenance period.

TCN had earlier notified electricity consumers of the planned interruption and apologised for the inconvenience the exercise might cause.

Following the completion of the maintenance work, electricity supply was restored to the affected areas.
The management of TCN thanked electricity consumers for their understanding and cooperation during the exercise.
