The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the Benin–Omotosho 330kV transmission line, bringing an end to a week-long outage that affected electricity supply to parts of the country.

According to TCN, the transmission line was restored at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, after engineers completed repairs and maintenance on sections damaged by detached conductors.

The line had been out of service since June 25, 2026, following the conductor detachment. TCN said its engineers successfully restrung the affected sections and carried out the necessary maintenance to return the line to operation.

With the restoration, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Eko Electricity Distribution Plc and Ikeja Electric are expected to receive increased power allocations for distribution to customers across their franchise areas.

TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and thanked affected electricity consumers for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the repair period.
