TCN, Imcomtel Inspect Katsina Transmission Substation Ahead of Major Installation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Katsina Sub-Region, and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have carried out a joint inspection of the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation Project ahead of the next major phase of installation.
The inspection, conducted on Thursday, September 24, 2026, was led by the Assistant General Manager (Transmission), Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman Idris, who received the Imcomtel delegation headed by Engr. Emmanuel Okafor.
During the inspection, the team assessed various sections of the substation, including ongoing civil works, equipment locations and supporting infrastructure, to determine the level of readiness for the forthcoming installation activities.
A major focus of the inspection was the assessment of two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the project site on July 9, 2026, as well as their designated plinths.
The transformers are expected to significantly increase transmission capacity in Katsina State and contribute to improved electricity supply infrastructure across the wider North-West region.
The team also inspected four newly delivered state-of-the-art control rooms to ascertain their readiness to accommodate critical protection, monitoring and control systems required for efficient operation of the substation.
At the end of the exercise, TCN and Imcomtel agreed on the final technical requirements and necessary site preparations to facilitate effective coordination as the project progresses towards completion.
The inspection team also included the Principal Manager, Engr. Mustapha Idowu, alongside Heads of Technical Departments.
