OSINACHI NWACHUKWU: Husband Still In Custody  …Says fake report is designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary disaffection

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has dinounced the claim making rounds that Mr. Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu had escaped from the Meduim Security Custodial Centre, Kuje during the recent armed attack on the facility.

National Public Relations Officer of the Service has said in a statement signed yesterday that the report is fake as the inmate in question is still in safe custody.

“The unfounded news brewed by mischief makers is merely designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary disaffection among the populace.

“There is no doubt that the nation is passing through a challenging period, which unfortunately, is having a spill-over effect on Custodial Centres. Therefore, if there is anytime to display diligence and patriotism, it is certainly now rather than promoting baseless and unsubstantiated news.

“While pursuing the recapture of the fleeing inmates with fervour, the Controller-General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa wishes to reassure the public of his unwavering resolve to improve public safety through promoting safe and humane custody of offenders in custody.

“He therefore solicits the support of well-meaning Nigerians towards actualizing this worthy course”, Umar stated.
