Oodua Integrity Group Urges Probe into Alleged Obstruction of Military Pensions Board Chairman

The Oodua Integrity Group has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to investigate the circumstances surrounding the delayed resumption of Abubakar Idris Adamu as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board.
In a statement, the group said Adamu’s appointment was duly communicated through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and supported by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Ministry of Defence. However, it alleged that despite these approvals, the retired Air Vice Marshal has been prevented from accessing his office.
The group further claimed that officials within the Military Pensions Board, reportedly acting on directives from the Chief of Defence Staff, were responsible for the development.
Speaking on the issue, Adebayo Soetan, Defence Affairs Liaison of the group, described the situation as an act of insubordination and a direct affront to the authority of the President and Commander-in-Chief. He warned that denying a duly appointed official access to office undermines the integrity of the presidency.
According to the group, all government institutions are constitutionally obligated to implement presidential directives promptly and in good faith. It stressed that any deliberate obstruction weakens the rule of law and erodes governance standards.
Describing the development as unprecedented, the group said the alleged resistance to Adamu’s assumption of office sets a dangerous precedent for institutional indiscipline and could sabotage ongoing reforms in military pension administration.
The Oodua Integrity Group therefore urged the Presidency to intervene decisively to resolve the matter, reaffirm lawful authority, and restore public confidence in governance.
Similarly, Ambassador Musa Mohammed Tsoken, National Coordinator of the Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Initiative and National President of the APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG), called on President Tinubu to ensure the immediate resumption of Adamu.
He noted that delays could undermine presidential authority, while swift action would enhance pension administration, protect retirees’ welfare, and boost morale among military personnel.
