Olopade Boosts Team Nigeria Judo Camp Ahead of African Championship in Kenya

The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, on Monday paid a morale-boosting visit to the camp of Team Nigeria’s senior judo squad as preparations intensify for the forthcoming African Senior Judo Championship in Nairobi.
Olopade, accompanied by top officials of the Commission, met with the athletes during a training session, where he reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to providing the necessary support for a successful outing at the continental tournament scheduled for later this month.
Addressing the team, the NSC boss commended the athletes for their dedication and urged them to maintain discipline and focus as they aim to represent Nigeria with pride.
“I salute your dedication and commitment. At the same time, I urge you to remain disciplined and continue to work hard towards achieving success in Kenya,” he said.
He also conveyed goodwill from the Chairman of the Commission, Shehu Dikko, noting his strong interest in the growth and development of judo in the country through sustained support.
Olopade highlighted the importance of the championship, describing it as a crucial pathway to Olympic qualification, which underscores the Commission’s prioritization of the team’s preparation.
“All your requests have been approved. Your task now is to go out there and make the country proud both in performance and conduct,” he added.
Captain of the team, Kehinde Aremu, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a major morale booster that has further motivated the athletes to deliver outstanding performances.
The visit ended on a high note as the Director General interacted warmly with the judokas and provided financial support to encourage the team.
The African Senior Judo Championship is scheduled to take place from April 20 to 29 in Nairobi, Kenya.
