NSCDC Deploys 28,000 Operatives for Eid-el-Kabir Security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 28,000 tactical operatives nationwide to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration. According to NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, this move is aimed at protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The deployment includes operatives from various units, such as:
- Intelligence Directorate: To gather and analyze intelligence on potential security threats
- Special Female Squad: To provide specialized support in maintaining law and order
- Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad: To offer strategic intelligence gathering and analysis
- Mining Marshals: To secure mining areas and prevent illegal activities
- Quick Response Tactical Team: To respond swiftly to emergencies and security breaches
- Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU): To prevent and respond to terrorist threats
- Operations Department: To oversee and coordinate security operations
- Special Weapon and Tactics operatives (SWAT): To provide specialized tactical support.

The NSCDC will focus on tackling:
- Insurgency: To prevent and combat insurgent activities
- Banditry: To prevent and respond to banditry attacks
- Kidnapping: To prevent and investigate kidnappings
- Illegal bunkering activities: To prevent and respond to oil theft and smuggling
- Vandalism of Critical Infrastructure: To protect and secure critical infrastructure
- Farmers/Herders clashes: To prevent and mediate conflicts between farmers and herders
- Economic sabotage: To prevent and respond to economic sabotage activities.
The NSCDC Commandant General emphasized the need for effective cooperation, collaboration, and coordination among security agencies to defeat unfriendly forces and overcome security challenges. He also called on the public to support the security efforts and work together to achieve effective security coverage nationwide.ยน
