According to NiMet, the North Central region will witness cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine and thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rains over states such as Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory, especially during afternoon and evening hours.

For the southern region, the agency predicted widespread thunderstorms and moderate rains across states including Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra.
NiMet also warned that strong winds could precede thunderstorms in affected areas and urged residents to take necessary precautions, including fastening loose objects and avoiding shelter under tall trees.

The agency advised motorists to avoid driving during heavy rainfall and urged residents to disconnect electrical appliances during storms to prevent damage from lightning and power surges.

Airline operators were also advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning and safer operations.

The weather agency further noted that temperatures are expected to remain high in many parts of the country, leading to thermal discomfort. It advised the public to stay hydrated, wear breathable clothing and remain in well-ventilated environments.
