The National Identity Management Commission has launched new WhatsApp and Live Chat support channels as part of efforts to improve customer experience and enhance access to National Identification Number (NIN) services across the country.

The initiative, unveiled under the leadership of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, is aimed at providing Nigerians and legal residents with faster, more convenient and real-time support for identity management enquiries.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications Unit, Kayode Adegoke, members of the public can now access support services through the Live Chat feature available on NIMC Official Website and the Commission’s official WhatsApp support line on +234 701 566 6971.

NIMC said the new digital channels form part of its ongoing reforms and digital transformation initiatives designed to improve service delivery, accessibility and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.

The Commission noted that the move aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which seeks to strengthen public sector efficiency and expand access to government services through technology-driven solutions.

According to the statement, the platforms are expected to provide prompt responses to enquiries, real-time guidance and improved customer interaction while reducing the need for physical visits to enrolment and service centres.

NIMC added that the reforms are focused on expanding access to identity management services, strengthening public trust and delivering more efficient services to Nigerians and legal residents.

The Commission also urged citizens to engage only through its verified communication channels to avoid misinformation and fraudulent activities related to NIN services.
