Nigerian Volleyball Federation Unveils New Coaching Crew for National and Beach Volleyball Teams

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has announced the appointment of new coaches for its senior national teams, age-grade squads, and beach volleyball teams as part of efforts to strengthen the sport and enhance Nigeria’s performance at regional, continental, and international competitions.
The appointments followed what the federation described as a rigorous selection, screening, and approval process aimed at assembling a technically competent coaching team to drive the development of volleyball across the country.
For the Senior Men’s National Team, Coach Taiwo Oladipupo was named Head Coach, with Coach Twevini Yohanna serving as Assistant Coach I and Setters Coach, while Coach Jonah Adamu takes up the role of Assistant Coach II and Offensive Coordinator.
The Senior Women’s National Team will be led by Coach Elam Elishama as Head Coach. Coach Segun Abinde was appointed Assistant Coach I and Offensive Coordinator, while Coach Sunday Yunana Akapson will serve as Setters Trainer.
In the age-grade category, Coach Adamu Nite will head the Under-19 Boys National Team, assisted by Coach Ayo Aboderin as Offensive Coordinator and Coach Philip Stephen as Setters Trainer.
The Under-19 Girls National Team will be handled by Coach Vincent Unogwu as Head Coach, alongside Coach Bukola Faremi as Blocking and Defence Coordinator and Coach Chinyere Onuoha as Offensive Coordinator.
For the Under-17 Girls National Team, Coach Sunday Yunana Akapson was appointed Head Coach, with Coach Jessica Egwuna serving as Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator, while Coach Kinsley Alika will oversee setter training.
The Under-17 Boys National Team will be led by Coach Suleiman Ajeigbe, supported by Coach Ibrahim Adamu as Assistant Coach I and Offensive Coordinator, and Coach Osas Omoruyi as Assistant Coach II.
The federation also named coaches for the Beach Volleyball National Teams: Coach Kayode and Coach Felicia Amos will oversee the women’s team, while Coach John Iwerima and Coach Jonathan Thaj will handle the men’s squad.
According to the NVBF, the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening technical development, building a sustainable talent pipeline, and ensuring adequate preparation of national teams for upcoming competitions.
The federation expressed confidence that the newly appointed coaches possess the experience, professionalism, and technical expertise required to guide Nigeria’s volleyball teams to greater success on the continental and global stages.
NVBF further reaffirmed its dedication to grassroots development, elite performance programmes, and the promotion of excellence in both indoor and beach volleyball as it seeks to improve Nigeria’s competitiveness internationally.
