Nigeria @66: CADI to Unveil ‘2027 and Beyond’ Book on Democratic Participation

The Citizens Advancement and Development Initiative (CADI) is set to unveil a new book, 2027 and Beyond: Own the Process. Vote for Value. Activate Performance Democracy, as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
The book, authored by Citizen Bolaji O. Akinyemi, has a foreword written by Bishop Matthew Kukah and is described by the organisers as a citizens’ handbook for Nigeria’s 2027 General Election.
According to CADI, the publication is designed to encourage Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to take greater ownership of the democratic process and participate actively in shaping the country’s future beyond 2027.
The initiative is anchored on the message: “Own the Process. Vote for Value. Defend Your Vote. Activate Performance Democracy.”
In a statement signed by Exodus Ishaku for CADI, the organisation said the book launch would provide an opportunity for Nigerians to begin a national conversation on the kind of country they want to build beyond the 2027 elections.
CADI said the initiative seeks to move citizens from being “spectators in democracy” to becoming active participants and owners of the democratic process.
The book unveiling is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, to coincide with Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day celebration.
The event will take place at Plummet Mission, 3 Adefolu Drive, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The organisation invited media professionals, civil society actors, Nigerians and other stakeholders to attend the unveiling and participate in the conversation on democratic citizenship and national development.
The organisers urged Nigerians to embrace what they described as a “new citizenship consciousness,” with the central message: “Let’s own the process to own Nigeria.”
