NDLEA PARLEYS WITH NIPOST, As Agencies seek areas of collaboration…..

National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA in Nigeria has expressed it’s readiness to cooperate with the Nigerian Postal Service NIPOST, to rid the nation of both users and peddlers of hard drugs and lethal substances. Gen.Marwa stated that what fueled the rising in the spate of insecurities, Kidnapping, Banditory can be attributed to the accessment of these outlawed substances in the wrong hand. This position was taken when the heads of both government agencies Brig-General Buba Marwa (Retd), and Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi met in the latter’s office in Àbuja. The Drug Law Czar solicited for cooperation in the area of exchange of information annonimously, in order to nip the menace from the source.
The PMG who was accompanied on the courtesy call by the General Managers of Postal Security & Investigations, Mrs. Celine Nwajei and Gideon Shonde, of the Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department CLRD, told the Chairman, NDLEA that his visit is to strengthen the existing partnership, he recounted that the eagle eyes of the post office workers contributed to several cases of arrests of drug pushers who had hitherto felt the Post will be easy passage for the concealed hard drugs to pass. The Postal Czar recounted how a number of illegal substances such as weapons, military camoflague uniforms have been intercepted in the Post and handed over to relevant securities including NDLEA. While outlining NIPOST statutory role in regulating the Courier industry under the present law, the PMG stated that the recent apprehension of drugs traffickers who masqueraded as Courier and Logistics operators, attested to the renewed vigour that CLRD has put in place to bring every operators in Nigerian to get registered for adequate monitoring.
