Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested three persons with disability (PWD) in separate anti-drug operations across Anambra and Kwara states, while also uncovering a massive stash of imported cannabis valued at over N5.8 billion in Lekki, Lagos.

The anti-narcotics agency said the arrests and seizures were part of intensified nationwide operations targeting drug trafficking networks and illicit drug production centres.

Among those arrested was a 60-year-old suspect, Romanus Nwabara, who was apprehended in Anambra State following intelligence-led operations by NDLEA operatives.

According to the agency, Nwabara was traced to Akpaka Forest in Onitsha on May 6, 2026, where officers recovered 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets.

In another operation at Ogbunike, also in Anambra State, NDLEA officers arrested 25-year-old Amos Kenneth with various illicit substances, including 160.3 grams of Tramadol 225mg and 100mg, 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grams of Exol-5, and 176.93 grams of skunk.

Similarly, along the Bode Saadu axis in Kwara State, operatives intercepted a commercial vehicle during a patrol operation and discovered 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed inside a brown school bag belonging to another PWD suspect identified as Usman Salisu.

In Lagos, a major breakthrough was recorded after operatives of the NDLEA Special Operations Unit raided a mansion in Lekki Phase 1 allegedly being used as a drug stash house.

The agency said the operation, conducted on May 8, led to the recovery of 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent imported strain of cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms and estimated to have a street value of over N5.815 billion. Also recovered from the property located at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, were two Mercedes-Benz buses and various designer packaging materials allegedly used for retail distribution of the drugs.
Elsewhere, NDLEA operatives arrested 38-year-old Emmanuel Osita Okeke in Nyanya-Karu, Nasarawa State, with 129 kilograms of skunk.

In another interception along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State, officers stopped a white commuter J5 bus travelling to Abuja and recovered 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilograms.

Three suspects — Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa — were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The agency also uncovered a makeshift skuchies production factory in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos.

Two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, were reportedly caught in the act of cooking cannabis and mixing it with other illicit substances.

NDLEA said operatives recovered 270 litres of skuchies, a dangerous psychoactive cocktail, along with 106 grams of Tramadol 225mg from the factory.

Beyond enforcement operations, the agency said its commands nationwide continued advocacy campaigns under its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA), initiative, carrying out sensitisation programmes in schools, communities, and religious centres across several states including Nasarawa, Ekiti, Enugu, Abia, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Kano, and Oyo.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers involved in the operations across Lagos, Anambra, Kogi, Kwara, and Nasarawa states.

Marwa praised the balance between aggressive drug supply reduction efforts and sustained public sensitisation campaigns, urging officers across the country to sustain the momentum in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
