NDLEA Arrests Lekki-Based Businessman and Italy-Based Exporter Over Illicit Drug Shipments, others

In a major crackdown on illicit drug shipments, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a Lekki-based businessman, Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, and an Italy-based exporter, Omoruyi Terry, for their involvement in shipping illicit drugs to Nigeria and Europe.

According to Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, Ebenezer was arrested on March 24, 2025, at Bay Lounge, Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos, while expecting to take delivery of his latest drug consignment. The 43-year-old businessman is the proprietor of Damillionz Takeout and has been involved in the illicit drug business since 2017.

The NDLEA also seized 60 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, weighing 32.24 kilograms, from Ebenezer’s home in Lekki. In a separate operation, Omoruyi Terry was intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, while attempting to export 1,400 pills of tramadol 225mg weighing 800 grams to Italy.

In another development, NDLEA operatives destroyed 13,198 kilograms of cannabis sativa in Edo forests and arrested four suspects in Katsina for their involvement in a drug repackaging factory. The suspects, Baraka Abubakar, Haruna Alitine, Muhammad Babangida, and Hamisu Lawal, were arrested on March 28, 2025, at Godai village in Daura LGA, Katsina.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers and men of the Agency for their operational successes and extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to them, their families, and Nigerians at large.
