NDLEA and MTN Foundation Organise Health Walk to Commemorate International Day Against Substance Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and MTN Foundation have partnered to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. On Saturday, June 21, 2025, they organized a Walk Against Substance Abuse at the University of Abuja to commemorate the 2025 International Day Against Substance Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

The Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. MB Marwa (Rtd.) CON, OFR, was represented by the Agency Secretary, Shadrach Haruna.

The Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, joined the walk to show support for the cause.

The event brought together stakeholders from various organizations to promote awareness about substance abuse and its effects.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on June 26, aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. This year’s commemoration serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against substance abuse and the importance of empathy, evidence-based prevention, and treatment strategies.

The walk against substance abuse aims to educate the public about the risks associated with substance abuse, encourage individuals and communities to take proactive steps in preventing substance abuse and advocate for accessible and effective treatment options for those affected by substance abuse.
