National Park Service will continue to promote accountability in procurement activities-CG

The Conservator-General, National Park Service, Ibrahim Musa Goni, has said that the Service will continue to promote accountability in procurement activities.

Mr Goni said this during the inauguration the 2019 Procurement Planning Committee of the Service at its Headquarters in Abuja on August 6.

The Conservator-general while presenting his inaugural speech said the inauguration is in compliance with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act of 2007 which stipulates that each procuring entity shall establish a Procurement Planning Committee for each financial year.
“This inauguration is an important opportunity to demonstrate the intention of the Service to fully comply with the provisions of the Act in promoting cost effectiveness, transparency and accountability in all its procurement activities”.
The Conservator-general said the Committee whose membership cut across all departments and specialised units of the Service is saddled with the responsibility of among others, preparing needs assessment.

“It has the duty of identifying the goods, works and services required, carrying out appropriate market survey and statistical surveys on that basis and preparing analysis of the cost implications of the proposed procurement.

“In addition, it will aggregate the procurement requirements within the procuring entity and obtain proper economy of scale and reduce procurement costs as well as undertake the preparation of the Service’s Annual Procurement Plan”.

He urged the Committee to ensure the prompt preparation of the Service’s 2019 procurement plan to prevent any hitches in the implementation of the Year’s capital budget.

“I expect the committee to perform its roles as spelt out with the commitment, dedication, sincerity and effectiveness that the assignment requires”, he advised.

In his response, the Chairman of the Committee, Assistant Conservator-General (ACG), Ecology Resource Management Department Dr A.Okeyoyin thanked the Conservator-general for finding the members of the Committee worthy for the assignment, assuring that the Committee will do its duty effectively.

Okeyoyin solicited the support of other departments and units in the Service to enable the Committee succeed in its assignment.

Other members of the Committee include, Conservator of Park, Abong E. Abong (Ecotourism department), Conservator of Park, I.L.Fingesi (Audit),Conservator of Park, Omole Martins (Budget/Finance Unit), Conservator of Park, Joseph. A. Ntui (Planning), Deputy Conservator of Park, Ahmed. H. Ibrahim (Legal), Senior Park Inspector, Yusuf.T.Adamu (Park Eng. & Maint.) and Chief Park Warden,Jonathan B. Kolo (Budget) as the secretary.
