Ministry of Defence Pledges Major Facelift for NAUB to Boost Military Education and Infrastructure

The Federal Ministry of Defence has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) into a world-class institution, announcing plans for a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at strengthening military education, research, and national security capacity.
The pledge was made by the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), during a meeting with the University’s Governing Council at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. He emphasized that the institution plays a strategic role in equipping military personnel and civilians with the technical and operational skills needed to address evolving security threats.
Among the planned projects is the construction of a state-of-the-art Centre for Military Performance Management, expected to be the first of its kind in Africa. The Ministry also announced plans to collaborate with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to maximize the 30 percent admission quota reserved for military personnel, helping to close critical skills gaps in the defence sector.
General Musa said the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s drive to build a highly skilled workforce capable of leveraging technology and innovation to tackle contemporary security challenges.
