MANNIR YAKUBU: Amintacce, Nagartacce….. Lessons to learn from a dedicated loyalist

These two Hausa words, Amintacce, Nagartacce are often used to describe the unquestionable and unblemished character of the incumbent Deputy Governor of Katsina State, QS. Alhaji Mannir Yakubu. The simple literal meaning of these words in English is ‘Trustworthy person’ with ‘exceptional qualities’. Even in the pre-Islamic Arabian era persons with such qualities provide the guide and wisdom in steering the affairs of the society. Religiously these are the yardsticks of measuring a qualitative and trustworthy leader.

His Excellency, QS. Mannir Yakubu has been in and out of both public and the private sector where he emerged untainted with a resounding record of discipline, integrity and commitment. Mannir Amintacce, Nagartacce is a man of exceptional record of progressive ideology and a reliable ally in pushing any political enterprise that will benefit his people.

Politically the deputy governor can beat his chest as one of the political gladiators in the state that never abandoned opposition politics all through the 16 intimidating years of the PDP. In Katsina apart from the incumbent president Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, Mannir is the only opposition politician that never wined or dined with the arrogant PDP.

Lesson in loyalty – for any politician aspiring to learn the values of loyalty, Mannir Yakubu becomes a relevant case study. In his almost eight years as deputy governor to the incumbent governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, there was never a time a report emerged of any disagreement with his principal. Mannir throughout remained loyal and committed to his principal’s Restoration Agenda. It is out of this exceptional loyalty that the deputy governor maintained a low profile despite his interest in taking over from his principal come 2023. Amintacce, Nagartacce is a kind of person that cannot jump into any political enterprise without the consent of his boss. Mannir by his home training is a person who believes in absolute respect for elders and the principle of consultation. Certainly with his unquestionable loyalty QS. Mannir Yakubu Amintacce, Nagartacce is the only person qualified to succeed Governor Aminu Bello Masari come 2023.

Lesson in administrative acumen – QS. Mannir Yakubu is an administrator par excellence. Mannir’s administrative prowess were brought to the fore in his handling of the state dreaded Covid-19 management committee.

The committee’s strategy and initiative has assisted greatly in checking the spread of the disease. Similarly out of Mannir’s sheer wisdom and forsight isolation centers were established across the state. He equally spearheaded a successful appeal fund for the rehabilitation of the victims of the novel pandemic.

Mannir’s record of administrative and financial discipline were laid bare in his positive handling of official assignments at the ministry of agriculture where he is a Commissioner. Pundits on civil service matters have concluded that the agric ministry he is overseeing is the most organized and transparent in the state.

For the continuity of Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s Restoration Agenda, QS. Mannir Yakubu remains the only promising candidate that will move the agenda to the next level..
